About Me

Per Magnus Skold

Magnus is currently a Senior Industrial Designer working at Mako Design helping inventors bring their ideas to fruition. With 20 years of experience, he has worked in several different fields including Aviation, Telecoms, Servers, and other tech products.

Born in Sweden and enjoying the outdoors since his childhood, Magnus and his wife started their outdoor passion together with hiking in 2008. With the addition of two kids, this eventually led to camping and road trips to national and state parks.

As his experience with camping grew, so also did his interest in what it means to be (somewhat) prepared for adverse conditions, outdoors and at home.

The idea of Some Vs None was hatched during the Texas ice-storm at the beginning of 2021. Many Texans were left without electricity and water for weeks, with the longest streak of freezing temperatures not seen for decades.

Magnus believes that because of him and his family's camping experience and the effective precautions they took, they survived relatively unscathed and comfortable during the storm.

The goal of the blog is to provide simple pragmatic advice, ideas, and life skills for everybody on how to be "somewhat prepared" in less-than-ideal conditions.

While Magnus will never claim to be an expert, he is always happy to learn how to be better prepared and share the knowledge.
